Nutrition Spotlight: Lenny

Working with a nutrition coach looks different for everybody depending on their needs and goals. For some, that may mean making big changes and for others, like PUSH511 member Lenny, that means having someone to help him stay consistent.

Lenny has been a member of PUSH511 for quite some time now. He has been consistently attending Bootcamp and CrossFit classes at the gym and has also been receiving nutrition coaching for an equal duration.

"I'm Lenny Kramer and I've been a member at PUSH511 for quite a few years now, primarily with the Bootcamp classes and nutrition program, but have recently gotten back into regular morning CrossFit classes. I'm a Senior Software Engineer at Microsoft, and to balance out all that time spent sitting at a desk I enjoy running.

"For most of my life, I've just been maintaining my weight and wanted a coach to help me dial in my nutrition needs to support my goals for losing body fat, gaining muscle, and training for long-distance runs. I'll also be turning 36 this month and can't eat whatever I want anymore and still stay skinny.

"Being more consistent in my daily nutrition has probably been the biggest achievement that helps open the door to other goals. Prior to starting the nutrition program, I wouldn't meal prep and my daily meals would vary wildly. I would either eat too much for one meal or not enough at the next, and would hit that late afternoon wall that required a caffeine pick-me-up. After getting that push in accountability from the nutrition program, meal prep doesn't seem like a chore to me anymore and I can get through the day feeling both physically and mentally healthier.

"Food logging and tracking macros. Logging food in an app is something I've honestly never enjoyed and probably never will, but being able to quantify what I'm eating and adjusting macro intake based on my goals is definitely invaluable.

"Ever since I've been more conscious about what I'm eating, I've felt way more energetic throughout the day and less fatigued after workouts. If I stray from the path a bit, I'll definitely notice how sluggish I feel after an unhealthy meal, so staying on track with my nutrition has generally made me a much happier person.

"I've been generally good with prepping breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but the snack game is where I was lacking some discipline. Making sure I have healthy snacks prepped, like turkey roll-ups and fresh fruits, has helped stop me from eating whatever high-fat/sugar junk food that's in the office when I get the afternoon munchies and regretting that decision later."
