Member of the Month - September 2022

Congratulations, Sarah!

Sarah is PUSH511's September Member of the Month! Sarah is one of our early risers who attends class in the morning, sometimes as early as 4:50 am! She's definitely committed! Here's why our coaches nominated her as our Member of the Month:

Sarah’s been a hard worker ever since our first session back when I was a trainer at Planet Fitness. When I made my way to full-time Coach/Trainer to PUSH I was excited to hear she was making the switch with me. She’s since made incredible gainz and lifestyle transformations since I started working with her. Can’t say enough good things about Sarah but she’s the type of client I’m happy to brag about. With only a year into this journey, I’m excited to see where she’ll be a couple more years down the road.

Sarah embodies everything we want to see in our PUSH members; she is kind, empathetic, caring, motivated, hardworking, and most importantly good looking. She joined the gym about a year ago and has managed to surprise herself in so many incredible ways. Although she may not always like us coaches telling her to "go heavier" or "make the movement harder," she usually smiles and tries it anyway. She brings a smile to the early morning classes and always cheers on others around her. She has the grit to continue to grow into an even better athlete and I am so excited to see where she goes from here!

Sarah is an extremely hard-working and coachable athlete. She comes in every day with a smile on her face and a desire to exceed her own personal benchmarks. I love her desire to improve, support others, and be the best version of herself. She is a staple in the 4:50 am class and a joy to coach!

First and foremost, Sarah is an all-around amazing human being. She has one of the toughest jobs as a nurse in the ER (and she just got a new job and was promoted) and her dedication to her career is incredible. So it’s not a surprise that in the gym she wants to work just as hard to learn and perfect her movements. She shows up, even after draining work shifts to put in the work to improve in the gym. She is awesome to coach and I feel honored to do so and happy to give her the push she needs with higher weights or harder movements. She is just a delight to have in class and as a member of PUSH!

Sarah has been such a great addition to our community. From day one she jumped in feet first trying to better her overall health and wellness with group classes, personal training, and nutrition. Soon after that she signed up for competitions and has always been open to a new challenge. She’s a pleasure to work out with whenever she’s in class and we’re lucky to have her! Congratulations on member of the month! Well deserved!

Sarah is the picture of hard work. Not only in the gym but also her job. She jumped into the deep end, competed at a huge competition back in June as an individual for the first time and did amazing. She comes in early, works hard, then goes to work and works just as hard. She was a wonderful addition to the gym. She's so incredibly coachable.

Sarah doesn’t normally take my classes but being in class with her, she’s a rockstar. She’s driven and always has her eyes on the next level.

Now, let's get to know our September Member of the Month!

When did you start CrossFit? April of 2021.

What's your fitness background? I played soccer from the age of 3 up until I went to college. I played for fun with friends while in college. I would go to the gym occasionally but nothing serious.

What's your favorite CrossFit movement? Deadlifts and back squats!

What's your least favorite movement? Dubs and snatches...I get frustrated too easily with both.

What do you do for work? I'm an emergency department nurse. However, I will be starting my assistant nurse manager position at the end of the month in an emergency department!

Tell us a little about yourself and your family. I currently live with my boyfriend and our two dogs. My dad and mom are both remarried so I have some pretty chill bonus parents... also grew up getting two Christmases! I have 1 biological brother who is younger but a foot taller and 4 step-siblings.

Tell us something we don't know about you! I love crafting and painting, started painting shoes and clothing on the side!

How has CrossFit affected your life outside of the gym? I have more energy and I am generally in a better mood. I feel more confident in myself too.

What do you enjoy the most about PUSH511? I love the community, the motivation, and support....and of course...all of the dogs!

What tips would you offer someone who is just getting started with working out? Don't be afraid to scale. Do what you know will push you to make you better and what you are comfortable doing. At the same time, take the advice and support with pushing yourself that other members give you, I have found them to normally be right in what I can do that I didn't think I could.

What's your favorite song to work out to? Whatever the remix is that Sam turns on...possibly the big booty mix.

What's your favorite restaurant? Chick-fil-a if that counts as a restaurant. Although recently, I've really liked El Bufalo.

Who's your hero (real or fictional)? My Poppop. He passed when I was 16 but he was the strongest person I knew. He always was my #1 supporter.

What does your frequently used emoji tab look like?

Words to live by or favorite quote? "Stay positive, work hard, make it happen"

What's your favorite travel spot? The Dominican Republic.

If you could win an Olympic gold medal for any sport, real or fake, what would it be? Fastest ice cream eater...may have a slightly unhealthy habit.

What's your hidden talent? I don't know if this is considered a talent, but I've been told I'm a good teacher/mentor...and apparently have a lot of patience.

What are your top five favorite movies?

  1. She's the Man
  2. War of the Worlds
  3. Moana
  4. Avatar
  5. Elf
