Charlotte Sofman is PUSH511's November CrossFit Member of the Month!
Charlotte is a regular at PUSH511's Noon crew! The PUSH coaches love having her in class, since she always brings a smile and positive attitude to the gym! She works hard, always strives to improve, and her attitude at every workout is infectious. This is why the PUSH team nominated her as Member of the Month:
Charlotte is such a bright spot in class! She shows up every day with a smile and brings such positive energy with her. Class is truly better with her there. She pushes herself, gives it her all, and is always cheering on those around her. She has a way of making everyone feel encouraged and motivated, and that kind of energy is contagious. We’re so lucky to have her as part of PUSH!
Charlotte is a joy to have in class. Approachable and friendly to all her classmates, she's a great athlete to have alongside you in a workout. Coachable and always willing to get advice on what to do better in a WOD.
Charlotte is one of the sweetest humans. She always makes new people feel welcome, cheers on her classmates, and loves to share in their misery. She took a short hiatus from the gym, and has made huge strides coming back, quickly getting back to lifting the weights she used to, working on her pull-ups, and never giving up even during really challenging workouts. Charlotte’s nursing career and her expertise proved invaluable this summer, and we couldn't thank her enough. Her compassion for fellow members shines through in everything she does - we are so lucky to have her!
Whether she’s bringing her welcoming smile to class or joining in on the fun at happy hour, Charlotte is always a bright spot in our community. We’re so glad to have her back and love seeing her smiling face around the gym. Help us celebrate Charlotte!
When did you start CrossFit? I originally started CrossFit at PUSH in August 2020, when the gyms began to reopen during COVID. I took a break for a few years and came back in February 2026!
What's your fitness background? I was fairly active growing up and experimented with gymnastics and ice skating. I played softball for a year in high school. Since college, most exercise has been running, hiking, yoga, and various bootcamp-style workouts.
What’s your favorite CrossFit movement? Most barbell movements, especially deadlifts and front squats.
What’s your least favorite movement? Thrusters and overhead squats.
What do you do for work? I am an ICU nurse at Shock Trauma and started working there in 2013. My unit works primarily with traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury patients.
Tell us a little bit about yourself and your family. I was born in Easton, PA, but mostly grew up in Rockville, then went to college in D.C. After graduation, I commuted to Baltimore for a long time before finally moving to the city in February 2020. I have an older sister, who has two kids, and I’m a proud dog mom to my dachshund mix Daisy.
Tell us something we don't know about you! I performed in two of my high school’s spring musicals. I can’t sing, but I’m a decent dancer! Also, I have never broken a bone.
How has CrossFit affected your life outside of the gym? In terms of everyday life, better sleep, improved mood, and overall increased energy. But on a deeper level, the demanding mental and physical aspects of CrossFit remind me to show up for myself in all areas of life, even when it’s hard.
What do you enjoy most about PUSH? The community and the dogs! Exercise doesn’t feel like a chore, and I really look forward to class, especially after a rough week at work. Also, it has been a great way to meet new people and reconnect with others.
What tips would you offer someone who is just getting started with working out? Getting started is the hardest part, and allow yourself to be a beginner. Don’t worry so much about your score or what weight you used. Remember to try something new, ask questions, and have fun!
