Nutrition Spotlight: Abby

Are you on the fence about signing up for a nutrition program but are worried it will be too restrictive? PUSH511 nutrition coaching member, Abby, is proof that you can reach your goals and enjoy the foods you love!

Abby first started with nutrition coaching through one of PUSH511's Nutrition Challenges. She wanted to learn more about macro counting and how it could help her be more flexible with her food choices while still reaching her goals. She also wanted to gain more consistency with her healthy habits and find a balance between maintaining these habits and enjoying her social life. Abby also knew that she was going to start traveling more for work in the upcoming months and needed some help figuring out how to travel while still continuing to make healthier choices. I am so proud of all the hard work Abby has put in to reach her goals and look forward to watching her continue to make progress!

"I am Abby Roznik, I am an HR Director for Frito Lay (Yes, Doritos and Cheetos). When I moved to Baltimore I had been on a diet plan that had restricted my calorie intake to about 1200 calories per day. This was obviously not healthy or sustainable, and I needed help learning how to eat a balanced meal that would fuel my body throughout the day, while still allowing me to meet my weight loss goals. I have finally learned how to make balanced meals, and how to fit the foods that I love into my daily macros (like cookies, pasta and ice cream)!"

As Abby mentioned, many nutrition programs focus on restriction, which is often not sustainable for significant periods of time. This means you may see great results, but you're probably not going to maintain them.

"It sounds basic, but [I learned] how to meal prep and feel comfortable eating out with friends. In the past, I had a very restrictive meal plan that was sent to me on a weekly basis. The plans were very restrictive and not sustainable. Rachel (my Nutrition Coach) has taught me how to count macros and ensure I am eating the foods I love without having to have a set daily plan!"

So, if you're worried that working with a nutrition coach means you have to trade your favorite foods for a plate of steamed chicken breast and broccoli, think again. You might find that during nutrition coaching you have more flexibility:

"I have so much more flexibility in the foods that I eat, I don't restrict myself from the foods I love, and I have stopped stepping on the scale every day. I used to think that I had to eat 1200-1300 calories a day to lose weight, but that is not the case. I feel so much better with my new nutrition habits.

"I would highly recommend nutrition coaching if you are looking to understand your macros, and create sustainable and healthy eating habits that make you feel great!"
