Member of the Month - October 2021

Congratulations, Jeremy!

Jeremy is our October Member of the Month! This is why our coaches love having Jeremy in CrossFit Classes.

<pJeremy has been a treat to have in the gym! He's been putting in his best effort and always listening to the coaches. He's so personable and approachable, and you can see how much he's enjoying CrossFit. Even when he went to Amsterdam, he went to a gym every day and came home showing me photos of the place like he was showing off his kids. Adorable! Keep up the great work Jeremy, and let's rip a few shots to celebrate!

Jeremy is awesome and an awesome part of morning classes! He works hard and always pushes himself in workouts. He has made huge improvements since he started, has such a good attitude, and is a fun dude to just chat with!

Now, let's get to know our October Member of the Month!

When did you start CrossFit? May 2021

What's your fitness background? Played sports growing up, but got busy with life; marriage, kids, and work so went away from fitness. Woke up overweight and felt something missing. Realized I needed to change something, not just physically but also mentally. Started slow with P90x and running. Eventually, moved on to group classes, social sports, and Ragnar Races. Finally, a couple on my kickball team recommended Push and I’ve been coming ever since.

What's your favorite CrossFit movement? Anything with a barbell (Push jerks, Power Cleans, Squat Cleans, Dead lifts, etc). I came here to learn these movements.

What's your least favorite movement? Stretching and any movement that has me suspended upside down (aka hand stands/wall walks)

What do you do for work? Analyst for the Government.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your family. Grew up with 2 younger brothers and we were always so competitive with everything we did. It contributed to my love of sports and pushing myself. I’m now a divorced Father with 3 daughters and a son from my previous marriage. I used to look at my life as a failure but, I think fitness mimics life. At the end of the day, we learn the best through our failures and it has made me stronger. I’ve since went to school received my Master’s, changed career fields, and pushed myself with races, traveling, and adventures I would of never thought of prior.

Tell us something we don't know about you! Love Halloween and any type of dress-up party. Also, if I call you “nerd” it means we are cool.

How has CrossFit affected your life outside the gym? I normally go to 6am classes. So I know found myself waking up early on off days and going to bed earlier. I look forward to the weekends now just for the opportunity to attend Joe’s boot camp.

What do you enjoy most about PUSH? The community of people. Met some really nice members and coaches who don’t mind taking a little bit extra time to help provide tips.

What tips would you offer someone who is just getting started with working out? Starting something new can be completely overwhelming especially considering the competition at PUSH. At the end of the day though, do not compare yourself to anyone else. Learn the movements, practice your form, don’t be afraid to go with lighter weights, but most importantly, focus on your own growth.

What's your favorite song to work out to? Anything by T Swift!!!! (kidding…we’ll sort of) right now “Guerrilla radio” by Rage Against Machine

What's your favorite restaurant? Baltimore - Ampersea; Great cocktails and a banging “Seafood dip” with the biggest pretzel you have ever seen.

Who's your hero (real or fictional)? David Goggins and The GOAT goat emoji Michael Jordan. (Watch the Last Dance) Both of them are fighters who failed but chose to learn and overcome.

What does your frequently used emoji tab look like? emotionless emoji

Words to live by or favorite quote? “Everyone comes to a point in their life where they want to Quit. But it’s what you do at that moment that determines who you are.” - David Goggins

What's your favorite travel spot? Loved the Netherlands but it has to be, Tulum Mexico. Beaches, drinks, activities, adventures, and nightlife but mainly the Churros.

If you could win an Olympic gold medal for any sport, real or fake, what would it be? Surfing. I can’t even surf but it’s always something I wanted to learn.

What's your hidden talent? Racing on MarioKart (DK is my man), bring it on if you dare.

What are your top five favorite movies?

  1. The Departed
  2. Top Gun
  3. Guardians of the Galaxy
  4. Creed
  5. Forgetting Sarah Marshall (Yes a Rom-Com)
