Member of the Month - August 2021

Congratulations, Zach!

Zach's our August Member of the Month! He's been a member of PUSH511 for several years attending CrossFit classes on a regular basis and our coaches feel it's well overdue to highlight him!

Zach is like a silent assassin; he doesn’t say much but kills whatever workout he’s doing and with a smile on his face.

Zach has some of the best form when it comes to the CrossFit movements. Always quiet but his level of intensity definitely speaks for itself. Love watching him crush WODs when he’s in my class!

Zach is always great to have in class, a great athlete and comes in with a positive attitude and smile on his face. He’s got a great go-with-the-flow vibe and have never heard a single complaint from him, he just gets right to it crushing workouts!

I love having Zach in class. Such a great attitude - the coaches always know he’s going to hit the workout stimulus just perfectly and give it his all. Zach is so receptive to feedback, but his form is nearly impeccable lately, so I mostly just stare in awe these days. He doesn’t say much, but he always has a smile on his face!

Zach is such a solid person and athlete. He has been at Push for a long time and always comes in, works hard, and does all of the right things. Zach never seems to have a bad day, and always maintains solid fundamentals throughout any WOD we can throw at him. Well deserved and way to go Zach!

Now, let's get to know our Member of the Month!

When did you start CrossFit? 2013 while I was living in Wilmington, DE.

What's your fitness background? When I started CrossFit I could barely lift an empty men’s barbell!

What’s your favorite CrossFit movement? Box jumps, although you can’t tell from the picture!

What's your least favorite movement? Handstand push-ups…I think my arms are disproportionately long!

What do you do for work? Stare in people’s mouths all day…

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your family. I was born and raised in the surrounding Baltimore County area and have basically spent my whole life here except for my residency in Delaware. I’m an only child so I’m really close to my family and they’re so proud of me for receiving this honor! Haha

Tell us something we don't know about you! I was an art major in college and dabbled in some graphic art and jewelry making before going to dental school.

How has CrossFit affected your life outside the gym? CrossFit started me on a health and wellness journey that has given me a ton of confidence in my body’s inherent abilities.

What do you enjoy most about PUSH? I’ve been a member at a couple of different gyms over the years and I have to say that Ardyth is the best owner that I’ve seen. It makes a huge difference to have an owner that is active and engaged with the whole community.

What tips would you offer someone who is just getting started with working out? For most people CrossFit should be about building healthy habits for life. Staying active and mobile is the key, not killing yourself under a barbell!

What's your favorite song to work out to? Higher Love…had it on repeat during our shutdown workouts.

What's your favorite restaurant? Krumpe’s…a secret donut shop in Hagerstown and my kryptonite!

Who's your hero (real or fictional)? All of the 65+ CrossFit masters athletes…life goals!

What does your frequently used emoji tab look like? Smiley Emoji, apparently I don’t take things too seriously.

Words to live by or favorite quote?“The only thing left to do is to get by on style.” -Catch 22

What's your favorite travel spot? Put me on a beach anywhere.

If you could win an Olympic gold medal for any sport, real or fake, what would it be? I feel like I could crush competitive stretching.

What's your hidden talent? I can clear a dance floor with my half split!

What are your top five favorite movies?

  1. The Royal Tenenbaums
  2. Life Aquatic
  3. To Kill A Mockingbird
  4. Zombieland
  5. Jurassic Park
