Meet Corinne!

Words from Corinne’s peers & coaches:

  • Corinne and her kitchenaid mixer have both been incredible additions to my life.  In all honesty though, I owe my athletic progress to Corinne’s support, encouragement, and stubbornness.  She is always willing to offer advice and is the type of person whose presence makes a workout better, for anyone involved.  I can’t think of a more deserving member and I’m proud to call her my workout partner.
  • When I first started at PUSH I was a little nervous didn`t know anyone not sure what to do. Corinne came over and introduces herself and we started talking, she made me feel right at home. Over the next days and weeks she helped me with the different lifts and movements giving me tips on what and what not to do. Over time it grew into a friendly competition that continues today. Corinne is without a doubt what the meaning of Member of the month is, very Friendly, Welcoming, Motivating, and will help anyone anytime! And Tough OMG she gets hit by a car and comes in the same day for the WOD lol. Congratulations my Friend very well deserved!!! Keep the crazy Cash outs coming.
  • Corinne is always encouraging and has great positive energy in the gym.  She is dedicated to gaining strength and refining her skills and inspires others to work just as hard.
  • I may give Corinne a hard time, but it’s all in good fun because she’s one incredible athlete.  She had some trouble with a few moves, asked for help, and picked it up so quickly after a few attempts.  She’s consistent and an incredibly fun person to have around.  Here’ to you doc!
  • Corinne works hard at making herself a better athlete and it shows in her performance, but the real factor of what makes Corinne an amazing person is how she approaches her training.  There is always a smile and fun/positive attitude emitting whether in warm-up, during the WOD, or extra work in the Beast Cave, even while tackling the always devilish DU.  She knows how to bring out the best in people and is a leader whether it is organizing extra throwdown sessions or pulling together teams to compete.
  • She throws around a barbell as easy as anyone I’ve seen. She warms up with the guys using the same bar and weights.  Add a few gymnastic skills and she’ll be an absolute force.  Plus she’s awesome to have around.
  • Her infectious smile and positive attitude lifts everyone up.  She is one of my favorite people to WOD with.  She has made tremendous progress while continuing to support and celebrate the achievements of others.  Corinne’s the bomb!
  • Corinne can go really, really fast.

Now some insight from Corinne directly:

Started CrossFit: In 2011 at Pearland CrossFit in Houston, TX

What is your fitness background: Soccer since childhood and a couple other sports in high school. Played various intramural sports throughout college and grad school (soccer, football, softball); continue to play on various rec sports teams here in Bmore.

Favorite Movement: It’s a close tie between clusters and bear complexes!

Least Favorite Movement: Ring dips

Occupation: Research Associate/Project Manager in Neurology at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your family: I grew up in South Jersey, where we spent most weekends on the beach in Ocean City (NJ, not MD). We moved to VA my sophomore year of high school, and then I went to college at Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA. After college, I moved to Houston where I worked for a year as a Research Assistant before enrolling in Rice’s Psychology PhD program. My postdoctoral fellowship at Hopkins brought Nate and I (and our dogs) back to the east coast. My parents are a mere four hours away on the beautiful Mobjack Bay and my sister’s a student at George Mason.

Tell us something we don’t know about you: I lived in France for ~six months in middle school - my dad was on sabbatical, so the whole family went. I thought they were ruining my life; turns out, it was amazing.

Words to live by: A moment of patience in a moment of anger saves you a hundred moments of regret. (source unknown)

How has CrossFit affected your life outside the gym: CrossFit has made me a better person in multiple ways. Aside from the obvious benefits of physical fitness and strength, CrossFit has made me more considerate and a better ‘team player’ (ironically, yes). It has reinvigorated my passion for fitness and excitement for going to the gym (I hate treadmills). Additionally, it’s opened my eyes to a new meaning of community. The CF GroupOn I bought back in 2011 - the one that convinced me to start - was the best GroupOn I’ve ever purchased…

What do you enjoy most about PUSH: Hands down, the community.

Fill in the Blank:
I like… scratch that - I love margarita Friday.

I eat… a lot of avocados!

I am… an introvert.

Favorite Cheat Meal… cakeeeeeeeeee.

Favorite Real-Life Hero/Athlete… My parents - they’re amazing people, fantastic parents, and I’ve always always, always looked up to them.
