Ava is PUSH511's August CrossFit Member of the Month!
Ava has been a member of the PUSH511 community for the past year and is a regular in our afternoon and evening group CrossFit classes!
The PUSH team voted Ava as August Member of the Month for various reasons. She has made it to PUSH's Committed Club consistently, which members join when they attend 14 or more group classes in a given month. She brings positive energy to each class she attends and is always ready to take on challenges, whether that means working on a new skill or pushing herself during the workout. Despite consistently challenging herself, she is always coachable and open to cues during class. We love having you at PUSH, Ava!
When did you start CrossFit? Last summer in July.
What's your fitness background? I’ve been working out since high school. I started with conventional weight lifting at Planet Fitness, have done different HIIT style classes like F45 and a private gym in CO, and then CrossFit.
What's your favorite CrossFit movement? I really enjoy power cleans. I feel strong doing them!
What's your least favorite movement? Overhead squats and power snatches…but I’m working on perfecting them so I like them more.
What do you do for work? Nothing I wanna do long term but I currently work for MedStar in their onboarding department.
Tell us a little bit about yourself and your family. I'm from Havre de Grace in Harford County, moved to CO to finish college, stayed there for 5 years and moved back MD to the city last summer. I have a twin brother. I have a big fluffy black cat named Nightmare. I love concerts and festivals. EDM is my favorite genre of music.
Tell us something we don't know about you! I snowboard.
How has CrossFit affected your life outside of the gym? It’s reignited my love fitness of fitness. I think it’s my favorite type of training I’ve tried so far. Definitely gained extra confidence within myself.
What do you enjoy most about PUSH? I love the community feel and how friendly everyone is! I feel very welcome here.
What tips would you offer to someone who is just getting started with working out? Just go for it! Any movement is good movement. And that you can do/lift more than you think.
