Boosting your immune system

The best way to beat back germs and illness is to have a healthy immune system.  The elderly usually have a higher chance of having a compromised immune system. However, obesity also compromises the immune system and since the United States has a high obesity rate all ages are at risk.

How can we create a healthy immune system?

  • Eat a diet high in fruits & vegetables.

Don’t like  fruits & veggies then take a daily multivitamin and mineral supplement. Talk to one of our Nutrition coaches to help you navigate.

  • Exercise regularly!

Get your butt in the gym for CrossFit group classes or Personal Training

  • Maintain a healthy weight.
  • If you drink alcohol, drink only in moderation.
  • Get adequate sleep. What is adequate sleep?

Minimum of 6 hours but target 7 to 8 hours.

Have quality sleep, turn off all electronic devices 30 minutes before going to bed.

  • Take steps to avoid infection.

How many times can we say wash your hands frequently!

Also, something you may not think about but when preparing meals make sure to cook meats thoroughly.

  • Try to minimize stress.

That can be hard during this time but take the time to just chill.

Go for a walk in the park, along the water, listen to soothing music, meditate, read a book.

MAKE time for yourself, just 5 minutes will make a difference.
